Sveriges läkarförbund, the Swedish Medical Association (SMA), has joined the AllTrials campaign. The Association represents 45,000 physicians in Sweden.

In a statement the SMA said

The SMA finds it very important that results from clinical trials and other clinical research studies are made available regardless of where in the world the studies take place. We welcome stricter regulation on clinical trials within the EU and find it very unfortunate that it is possible to escape stricter regulation by moving trials to other parts of the world. Even though retroactive legislation might not be possible, the SMA wants to emphasize that it is deeply unethical to withhold older negative results regarding pharmaceuticals and medical products that are still in use.

The decision was taken at the SMA’s board meeting on 10th April 2014. Its statement will appear in Swedish on their website soon.
